Have you ever thought, "What if I developed dementia in Canada?"

Dementia is no longer a special disease. All of us who are currently healthy are at risk of developing a disease in the future.

When bilingual people develop dementia, they may forget the language they learned later and are only able to speak their native language, creating a huge burden on caregivers. The day may come when Japanese residents and people of Japanese descent living in Vancouver will only be able to speak Japanese. We value "Japanese" so that we can be of some help to those who encounter such situations.

Activity goal

The Japanese Dementia Support Association was established in Vancouver in February 2017 with the following goals:
Creating a society where people with dementia can live with peace of mind
Communicating correct information about dementia
To act as a bridge between communities [organizations] that are active in the local community and people with dementia.

Our Projects

Contribute to the local community by providing a place for information exchange, gathering, and learning for people with dementia, their families, caregivers, people with an interest in dementia, and professionals. Aiming to contribute, since its establishment, its main activity has been to hold the Orange Cafe Vancouver (dementia cafe), a gathering once a month.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic that began in 2020, we moved our activities to the video communication platform "Zoom" and are holding "online lectures" and "online de cafe." Events that have taken place so farplease use this form..

Support

As an NPO, it is currently difficult for us to continue our activities without your support. If you agree with this purpose, we would be grateful if you could give us a warm gesture (donation).
